Metro Exodus PC requirements: Minimum, Medium, Recommended, and Ultra

Dmitry Glukhovsky was already a cult author, having released a book in 2005 entitled Metro 2033, which was the beginning of an enormous development in this genre of literature and in the gaming industry.

Every lover of computer games at least once, but heard about the same-name game, which was released in 2010, and just like the main literary work, became a cult (in a certain fan circle) and not only in the CIS, but also in the World .

Separately, it is worth noting that the variation of the game came from the pen of talented developers from the studio “4A Games”, which included people who had worked with the more famous project “S.T.A.L.K.E.R”.

The second part, entitled Metro: Last Light, became even more successful, which was appreciated not only by the fan sector, but also by many game reviewers.

And finally, after six long years, every fan of a series of books and games can once again plunge into this gloomy world inhabited by various mutants, since on February 15, 2019, the third part called “Metro: Exodus” or more familiar translation "Metro: Exodus".

Features of the gameplay

It should be noted that Dmitry Glukhovsky took the most direct part in the creation of the third part, as was the case in the first two, and also from him the first officially confirmed rumors about the game’s development went.

From the first trailers, it became clear that the developers, to the joy of many, finally released the main character named “Artyom” under the open sky, leaving the “romance” of the sultry Moscow meters in the past.

But the main elements of the genre: radiation, monsters and familiar weapons are present in abundance, which is good news.

Without going into the details of the plot, in order to avoid spoilers, we should highlight several features of the game, which millions of gamers have already appreciated:

  • Dynamic weather and seasons, as well as in some missions, day and night;
  • The two main locations "Moscow" and "Novosibirsk";
  • The plot is non-linear;
  • The presence of stealth component;
  • The alternation of the "line" and the open world;
  • More detailed and functional "crafting";
  • Several new types of mutants and fractions.

A curious list, which can be continued further. But as they say, it"s better to see everything yourself.

And in order to accomplish this, a modern computer or gaming console should be at hand.

And it is about this that will be discussed further.

Metro Exodus PC requirements: Minimum, Medium, Recommended, and Ultra

Technical requirements

At all stages of the game"s announcement, the developers “fed” gamers with various system requirements.

If users of consoles look at all technical requirements without a share of fear or curiosity, then people who are planning to purchase and install the game on their computer from the first lists of requirements understood that they could not get away with a little blood.

It should be understood that this project offers a rather interesting graphic component, so even the minimum system requirements are as follows:

  • Image quality: 1080p and 30 fps;
  • Operating system: "Windows 7/8/10";
  • Central processor: "Intel Core i5-4440" and higher or equivalent from AMD;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: “GeForce GTX 670”, “GeForce GTX 1050” or “AMD Radeon HD 7870” with 2 GB of memory and support for “DirectX 11/12”.

It is worth noting that despite the fact that the developers have promised that the minimum graphics settings will be enough for a comfortable gameplay, trying to run the game on a computer with insufficient configuration is simply meaningless, in this case, you can watch the passage on “YouTube”.

For a comfortable game and in order to at least superficially assess the beauty of the game, the computer configuration must comply with the following characteristics:

  • Image quality: 1080p and 60 fps;
  • Operating system: Windows 10;
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K or equivalent from AMD;
  • RAM: 8 GB;
  • Video card: GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD RX Vega 56 with 8 GB of memory and support for DirectX 12.

To enable medium and maximum graphics settings, you must use "DirectX 12", which requires appropriate support from the video card, as well as having an operating system of at least "Windows 10".

For gameplay in the resolution of "2K" system requirements look even more significant:

  • Image quality: 1440p and 60 fps;
  • Operating system: Windows 10;
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K or equivalent from AMD;
  • RAM: 16 GB;
  • Video card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD RX Vega 64 with 8 GB of memory and support for DirectX 12.

Also, to activate the ray tracing technology from Nvidia, a video card of the “RTX” line is required.

Well, in the old-fashioned way, to get an incredible aesthetic pleasure from playing in “Ultra Quality” and permission in “4K” you will need:

  • Image quality: 4K and 60 fps;
  • Operating system: Windows 10;
  • CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K or equivalent from AMD;
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Video card: GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with 11 GB of memory.

What to look for when building

As can be seen from the above list, the computer for "Metro: Exodus" should have a modern stuffing, also considering that the optimization of the game is far from the best.

Therefore, choosing a computer and / or accessories for the upgrade should pay attention to these components:

Regardless of whether you plan to play 2K or 4K, you must pay special attention to the choice of processor, not limited to the minimum threshold specified in the system requirements.

For a comfortable game, processors from Intel Core i5-8400 and above, which have been demonstrating a high level of quality for quite a long time, are perfect.

Video card

Without further ado, it should be noted that for “Metro: Exodus” a significant amount of video memory is required even for minimum settings:

  • FullHD minimum - 2 GB;
  • FullHD high - 8 GB;
  • QuadHD Ultra (2K) - 8 GB;
  • UltraHD Ultra (4K) - 11 GB.

In addition, it is pointless to acquire a video card without taking into account future trends in the gaming industry. Representatives of the “RTX” series will show themselves well in this role, without which support for ray tracing is impossible.

For gaming at medium graphics quality settings, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 will be enough.

Everything is simple, the more the better. The minimum threshold of 8GB is meaningless to stick to, it should be doubled for any future plans.

The last thing that needs to be noted is that at the time of this writing, it has been almost a month since the publication date of “Metro: Exodus” and the reviews are quite contradictory.

Many professional reviewers gave extremely high marks, but among the average user segment, ratings were much less rosy.

With what it can be connected? With the expected poor optimization or deficiencies of the gameplay? Answers to these questions will give the first significant updates and time.
