Shani's House in The Witcher 3: Exact Location in Oxenfurt (With Map)

Updated October 9, 2026. Shani's house in The Witcher 3 is Shani's Clinic, on the west waterfront of Oxenfurt, a short walk south of the Oxenfurt Harbor signpost. Look for the hanging sign with a staff and two snakes. You can only go there in the Hearts of Stone expansion. The map below marks the exact building.

Where Is Shani's House in The Witcher 3?

In the game the building is labelled Shani's Clinic. The Witcher wiki places it "on the same riverbank as the morgue and harbor" in Oxenfurt, and the wiki entry for her Gwent card describes it as Shani's Clinic "near the Oxenfurt Harbor". A GameFAQs walkthrough of Hearts of Stone adds that it is "only a stone's throw away" from The Alchemy inn.

The easiest way to get there:

1. Fast travel to the Oxenfurt Harbor signpost.
2. Walk south along the waterfront. The clinic is the building by the water roughly one block south of the signpost (see the map above).
3. Look for the clinic's hanging sign with a staff and two snakes. The wiki notes it shows the Staff of Hermes (caduceus) rather than the single-snake Rod of Asclepius normally used for medicine.
4. During the quest, the marker sends you straight to the door. Shani is usually on the second floor.

The clinic has two floors. The ground floor holds the surgery and herbal supplies, and upstairs there is a library, a small laboratory and Shani's bedroom.

When Shani's House Becomes Available

Shani's Clinic is tied to the Witcher 3 expansion Hearts of Stone, released on October 13, 2015, and included in the Complete Edition and the 2026 Remastered upgrade. You will not find Shani in the base game.

The expansion starts with the contract posted on the notice board by the Seven Cats Inn south of Novigrad, from Olgierd von Everec. That leads into "Evil's Soft First Touches", where you first meet Shani in the Oxenfurt sewers. Later, when Olgierd sets his three tasks, one of them sends you to Shani's house to start "Dead Man's Party".

Who Is Shani?

Shani is a medic who studied at Oxenfurt Academy. In Andrzej Sapkowski's novels she served as a field medic at the Battle of Brenna, and the wiki notes she later became Dean of Medicine at Oxenfurt. In The Witcher 1 she was one of Geralt's closest companions in Vizima, treating plague victims and helping with his investigation.

In Hearts of Stone she is working as a field medic for the Redanian army. Geralt runs into her in the sewers while hunting the toad, and she guides him through the tunnels. She later asks him to be her companion at a wedding, which is where most players remember her from.

Every Quest With Shani in Hearts of Stone

Shani appears in four Hearts of Stone quests. Only the middle two involve her house directly.

Dead Man's Party: The Wedding Quest

To fulfil one of Olgierd's wishes, Geralt must give Olgierd's dead brother Vlodimir one last night of fun. You meet Shani at her house, then go to the von Everec crypt to summon Vlodimir's ghost while she waits outside. Vlodimir then possesses Geralt and takes him to the wedding at Brunwich, with Shani as his date.

The wedding has four required activities: driving pigs into a pen, fishing Shani's shoe out of a pond, finding a fire swallower, and playing Gwent against halflings. There are also optional activities, and doing all of them unlocks the "Let the Good Times Roll!" achievement. Vlodimir promises to behave around Shani, and does not quite keep that promise.

Look out for a unique Gwent card, the Cow, on the first floor of the stable during the party.

The Shani Romance: A Midnight Clear

When Vlodimir leaves Geralt's body, the secondary quest "A Midnight Clear" begins. Stay at the party instead of leaving, and you can bring Shani a gift. Her journal entry hints at what she likes, and the options are a rowan branch, chamomile, rowanberry brandy or mead.

• The Witcher wiki notes that any of the four gifts can lead to the romantic ending if you choose the right dialogue.
• Picking the option to toast to friendship keeps things platonic.
• For the romance, kiss Shani during your walk, near the large tree.
• The next morning the two talk, Shani leaves and the quest ends. She tells Geralt she needs someone who will be "home at the end of every day", so it ends as a friendship.

Will it affect Yennefer or Triss? No. The wiki states you can romance Shani "without it affecting any relationship you may have going on with Yennefer or Triss". The quest is worth 150 XP on Story and Swords!. Note that Geralt is still in his wedding outfit afterwards, so put your armor back on before you leave.

Shani's Gwent Card and What Happens to Her Later

Shani is a Gwent player, and beating her at her clinic wins the Olgierd von Everec card, a neutral card worth 6 strength. If you miss it, the wiki says you can find the card at the top of Shani's Clinic after the Hearts of Stone main story.

Shani's House in The Witcher 1

Some searches for "Shani's house" are about the first game. In The Witcher 1, Shani has a house in Vizima's Temple Quarter, next to the Merchant Street market area and marked by a Rod of Asclepius sign. Her landlady, Grandma, is hard to please. If you are on good terms with Shani you can stay there in Chapters II and III, and in Chapter III Alvin may live there if you choose Shani as his guardian. That house does not exist in The Witcher 3.
