Skjall's Grave in The Witcher 3: How to Start It and Does It Affect Ciri's Ending?
Witcher 3 Skjall's Grave: how to start it, whether it affects Ciri's ending, the burial on Hindarsfjall and the angry locals. 100 XP.

Updated October 2026. Skjall's Grave is a short, optional main quest: Ciri wants to say goodbye to Skjall, the young Skelliger who helped her escape the Wild Hunt. It only exists if you agree to go with her at the end of Child of the Elder Blood, and that agreement is what counts toward Ciri's ending. The quest itself is almost entirely one cutscene.
Quick answer
How to start: answer "Yeah. I'll go with you." at the end of Child of the Elder Blood. That answer counts toward a positive Ciri ending.
Where: the cemetery on Hindarsfjall (Lofoten).
Choices inside: the Witcher Wiki says the dialogue options here don't really change anything.
Reward: 100 XP. Suggested level 28.
Skjall's Grave Walkthrough
1. Meet Ciri at the Cemetery
After agreeing in Child of the Elder Blood, you can go with Ciri right away or meet her at the Hindarsfjall cemetery later. Since the quest is basically one long cutscene, going right away saves time. Skjall helped Ciri when she was on the run; his story is in Ciri's Story: The Calm Before the Storm.
2. Skjall Has No Grave
Ciri and Geralt can't find his grave. The islanders saw Skjall as a disgraced outcast, and his body was thrown into a pit where dead sheep are left for the crabs. Ciri pulls him out and, with Geralt's help, gives him a proper burial near the cemetery.
3. The Angry Locals
Some Skelligers are furious: to them, disturbing the dead is worse than running from battle. You can threaten them, but they won't do anything either way.
4. Leave Together or Not
When you leave, you can go back with Ciri or tell her you have something to take care of. The quest then ends with 100 XP. Afterwards, the grave and the three Skelligers from the cutscene can be found southwest of Lofoten Cemetery.
Does Skjall's Grave Affect Ciri's Ending?
| Moment | Effect on Ciri |
|---|---|
| Agreeing to go ("Yeah. I'll go with you.") in Child of the Elder Blood | Positive. This is the choice that counts. |
| Refusing ("No time.") | Negative. Skjall's Grave never starts. |
| Dialogue inside Skjall's Grave | The Witcher Wiki's quest page says these options don't really change anything. |
