«…The Sword of Destiny has two edges. You are one of them…»

We continue a series of articles about the key characters of the game universe the Witcher, which with the release of the series from Netflix is experiencing a second (well-deserved) rise in popularity.

We have previously talked about the plight of Geralt, Yennefer and Triss, and now it's time to touch the lives of many a beloved character – the child of Elder Blood, Lion Cub of Cintra, Falka, Zireael, Swallow – yeah, it's Cirilla of Cintra, or Ciri, which is more familiar to fans of the game from CD Project Red.

Despite her young age, her fate is a focus of pain, courage, devotion, and incredible trials.

Early childhood

The Witcher 3: Ciri - Early childhood

If you have watched the series or read a book, then you know from the first collection of stories by ange Sapkowski that Cirilla is the granddaughter of Calanthe Fiona Riannon, Queen of Cintra.

The prehistory of her birth is quite a fascinating event, which both in the book and in the above-mentioned series is given a lot of time.

Ciri was born in may 1252 according to the chronology of the Saga, in the family of Pavetta (daughter of Calanthe) and Prince Duny, aka Urcheon of Erlenwald, aka (attention small spoiler!) Emhyr var Emreis, Deithwen Addan yn Carn aep Morvudd.

The birth of Ciri was a welcome event for all of Cintra, despite the fact that it was expected with some apprehension because of the events described in the story "A Question of Price".

Cirilla, in many ways inherited the character of her grandmother – she was a very active and lively child.

But outwardly, her beauty took after her mother Pavetta, inheriting long ash-gray hair and refined features of a Regal face. Her large green eyes were admired by the whole Kingdom.

Like many girls with such combative characters, Ciri preferred the company of boys, ignoring the proper activities for girls of similar birth and age.

As you know, Cintra and the Skellige Islands were connected not only by friendship, but also by blood family relationship, which of course affected the Princess's childhood.

Ciri often stayed in the Islands with his uncle Crach an Craite, after travelling a considerable part of his time.

But by the will of fate and the evil will of some high-ranking and powerful persons, at the age of five, Cirilla loses her mother Pavetta. The death of Calanthe's daughter, and the whole marriage between Pavetta and Duny is just a clever political game, as you know in the course of reading the books and passing the game series the Witcher.

Further history of the fate of Ciri up to the events, which is based on the plot of the game the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, this is the entire collection of stories and books about the adventures of the white-haired Witcher Geralt of Rivia, the sorceress Yennifer and Ciri, which became Something More for them.

In order to avoid spoilers, we will not go into the details of the plot of the books, the series and the game, we will focus only on the key points of the game plot.

The following quests are related to the main storyline of Ciri's adventures:

And all the final quests that completed the plot of the main game "Wild Hunt".

Each player, almost from the first tasks, their decisions choose the fate of the main characters of the game.

You have a very important task before you-it is to determine the fate of Ciri.

As you know, the game has three main endings:

  • Ciri dies in his attempt to save everyone;
  • Ciri will become Empress;
  • Ciri becomes a Witcher.

So which way to choose for it and how? We will definitely focus on this in more detail in our next article!
