Updated September 26, 2026. The wait is almost over. After two delays, Grand Theft Auto VI is locked in for November 19, 2026, pre-orders are live, and Rockstar has finally shown the game in depth. Here is everything officially confirmed about GTA 6: release date, platforms, price and editions, pre-order bonuses, trailers, the state of Leonida, the characters and the biggest new features. Anything that is still a rumour is clearly labelled.

GTA 6 Release Date

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeated that date several times, most recently on the company's August 7 earnings call, and told CNBC on August 10: "I believe we will exceed expectations."

It has been a long road. Here is how the release date changed:

Platforms: Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The PlayStation Store listing carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, although Rockstar has not detailed the improvements yet. No PC version has been announced. Rockstar has historically brought its games to PC later (GTA 5 arrived on PC about a year and a half after consoles), but there is no official date or confirmation for GTA 6.

GTA 6 Price, Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses

Every pre-order made before November 20 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. The Ultimate Edition adds vehicles such as the Grotti Cheetah, Dinka Enduro, Vapid Ganado, Shitzu Squalo and Vapid Dominator Buggy, the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, shops and businesses including Rideout Customs and Electric Fang Tattoo, and a classic-car commission. On PlayStation, pre-ordering any edition also includes one free month of GTA+.

Zelnick has called pre-order demand "unprecedented" without sharing numbers, and described the $79.99 price as "an incredible bargain" given the size of the game.

The Extended Look premiered on Netflix and then on YouTube and rockstargames.com. Rockstar has not officially announced a "Trailer 3"; a launch trailer closer to release is widely expected but unconfirmed.

Setting: Welcome to Leonida

GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida. Alongside the neon-soaked return of Vice City, the officially named regions include the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. According to GameSpot's coverage of the Extended Look, the map is around three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's.

Characters: Jason and Lucia

For the first time in a mainline GTA, the story follows two protagonists as a couple: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Other characters revealed by Rockstar include Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, the duo Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder.

The August Extended Look revealed a lot about how GTA 6 plays. Based on coverage of that showcase:

• Character switching mid-mission between Jason and Lucia.
• A six-star Wanted system plus a "Criminal Profile" that tracks how violent you have been over time.
• Fitness and diet change how the characters look.
• Key cloners are needed to steal newer cars.
• NPCs react to visible weapons.
• A campaign of roughly 80 hours.
• No microtransactions in single-player and no generative AI used in development.

What About GTA 6 Online?

GTA 6 launches as a single-player experience. Rockstar has not announced an online mode yet. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in September that multiplayer would arrive "next year", but that is not an official Rockstar statement, so treat it as a rumour for now.
