Epic Games Store: Out of Sight and TerraScape

Epic's weekly freebies switch every Thursday at 11 a.m. Eastern. Both games below are free to keep once you add them to your library before the deadline.

Out of Sight

Genre: horror puzzle adventure. Developer: The Gang. Released: May 22, 2025. Normal price on Steam: $9.99.

You play Sophie, a young blind girl who sees the world through the eyes of her teddy bear. The game uses an unusual second-person view: you control Sophie while looking through Teddy, and you have to move him around to see a way forward. The goal is to escape the dark mansion where she is held and uncover its history. It is rated Everyone 10+, so it is creepy rather than gory.

TerraScape

Genre: city-building puzzle game. Developer: Bitfall Studios. Released: July 17, 2024. Normal price on Steam: $14.99.

TerraScape is a cozy medieval city-puzzler. You build kingdoms on floating islands by placing buildings so they boost each other, discover secret combinations and take on weekly challenges on randomly generated maps. It supports single-player plus co-op and competitive multiplayer. A paid Ancient Egypt add-on exists, but only the base game is free.

Next week on Epic (October 15–22)

Epic has already shown the next pair:

  • Agent A: A puzzle in disguise (Yak & Co, 2019): a stylish spy puzzle adventure where you infiltrate the hideout of enemy agent Ruby La Rouge. $19.99 on Steam.
  • Bad Cheese (2025, published by Feardemic): a psychological horror game drawn like a 1920s cartoon, where you play a little mouse trying to keep a dysfunctional dad happy. $12.99 on Steam.

Steam: Pony Island Free to Keep, Plus Three Free Weekends

Pony Island (free to keep)

Pony Island by Daniel Mullins Games is free to keep on Steam until October 12 at 1 p.m. ET (normally $4.99). It is a suspense puzzle game set inside a cursed arcade machine built by the devil, and, as Steam puts it, "it is not a game about ponies." If you liked Inscryption, this is the same developer's earlier game.

Fireside Feelings, a small social game about sharing thoughts around a campfire, is also listed as free to keep until October 12.

Free weekends (play free, not yours to keep)

  • ARC Raiders: Embark Studios' multiplayer extraction shooter. Free to play until October 12 at 4 a.m. ET.
  • Core Keeper: mining sandbox for 1–8 players. Free until October 12 at 1 p.m. ET.
  • Squad 44: large-scale WWII shooter. Free until October 13 at 1 p.m. ET.

Progress usually carries over if you buy the game afterwards, and free weekends are often paired with a discount.

Free Steam DLC this week

  • World of Warships: Ning Hai, free until October 12, 9 p.m. ET.
  • Rotwood: Drakin Armoury Pack and MXGP 26 Scrubdesignz Liveries, free until October 15.
  • Gear.Club Unlimited 3: Gear.Club Signature Pack, free until October 22.

DLC needs the base game to be useful, but claiming it now costs nothing.

Prime Gaming (Amazon Luna): October Games This Week

Amazon announced ten free PC games for Prime members in October. They come as codes for other stores, and you keep them even if you cancel Prime later.

  • Available now: Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit (Epic Games Store) and DOOM (2016, GOG).
  • From October 8: Conarium and WarBreeds (both GOG).
  • From October 15: Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong (Epic Games Store) and Caravan SandWitch (Amazon Games App).
  • Later in October: Ad Infinitum and Time Travel: Escape Room Game (Oct 22), Trash Goblin and Kiborg (Oct 29).

GOG and Mobile

GOG had no limited-time giveaway running when we checked on October 9. GOG does not follow a fixed schedule, so check its homepage banner. Epic's mobile store also adds a free mobile game every Thursday, and you can claim it in the Epic Games Store app on Android (and on iPhone in supported regions).

How to Claim This Week's Free Games

  1. Epic: sign in on the web store or in the launcher, open the game page and click "Get", then "Place Order". You pay $0 and the game stays in your library.
  2. Steam (free to keep): open the Pony Island store page and click "Add to Account" before the deadline.
  3. Steam (free weekend): click "Play Game" on the store page. These leave your library when the weekend ends.
  4. Prime Gaming: sign in at Amazon Luna's claims page, claim the code and redeem it on GOG, Epic or the Amazon Games App as shown.

Tip: claim now and play later. Once a game is in your library, the deadline no longer matters.
