Updated October 2026. Veni Vidi Vigo is a short main quest inside Battle Preparations: Emperor Emhyr is holding the sorceress Fringilla Vigo on his flagship off Undvik, and the team needs her. Geralt has to swim out to the fleet at night without getting spotted, climb aboard by the right anchor, and hand Emhyr a letter from Yennefer. Most failed attempts come from picking the wrong anchor.

Quick answer

Start: automatically when the team's ship reaches Skellige, as part of Battle Preparations.

Where: Emhyr's flagship near Undvik. Fast travel to Marlin Coast and approach from the shore.

How: wait for night, drink a Killer Whale potion and swim underwater. Surface next to the submerged starboard anchor on the north side.

Reward: 200 XP. Suggested level 28.

Veni Vidi Vigo Walkthrough

1. Get to Marlin Coast and Wait for Night

Fast travel to the Marlin Coast signpost and walk along the shore to a spot near the fleet. Keep your distance from the ships. If it's daytime, meditate until after nightfall.

2. Swim to the Flagship

Drink a Killer Whale potion so you can stay under longer (our potions and recipes guide has the formula), then swim deep underwater toward the flagship and avoid the spotlights. If you're spotted, the Nilfgaardian soldiers turn hostile and shoot. You can survive it: dive down until they lose you.

Use the right anchor. The flagship has two anchors, but only the starboard one, fully submerged on the northern side, works. Surface next to it so a soldier recognizes you, then interact with the anchor to start the cutscene.

3. Talk to Emhyr

The dialogue choices during the cutscene don't change anything. Geralt gives Emhyr Yennefer's letter asking him to release Fringilla, and he agrees. It's a short scene with the emperor you met in Imperial Audience.

4. Fringilla Teleports You Back

Fringilla teleports Geralt back to Kaer Trolde Harbor and the quest completes. Back at the harbor, carry on with the other parts of Battle Preparations.

Sail a boat to the flagship (day or night)The soldiers turn hostile right away and you have to race in under fire. After a later patch, the cutscene still only starts if you jump in the water and use the anchor.

QDo I have to do it at night?

Night is the intended way. Meditate on the Marlin Coast shore until after dark, then swim.

QDo my dialogue choices with Emhyr matter here?

No. The choices in this cutscene don't change anything; Emhyr releases Fringilla either way.
